Feedback Inhibition00:46

Feedback Inhibition

Biochemical reactions are occurring constantly in cells, converting starting substances to different products, usually with the help of enzymes that speed the reactions. Without enzymes, it would take far too long for most reactions to occur to be useful to the cell!

Proofreading

Synthesis of new DNA molecules starts when DNA polymerase links nucleotides together in a sequence that is complementary to the template DNA strand. DNA polymerase has a higher affinity for the correct base to ensure fidelity in DNA replication. The DNA polymerase furthermore proofreads during replication, using an exonuclease domain that cuts off incorrect nucleotides from the nascent DNA strand.Errors during Replication Are Corrected by the DNA Polymerase EnzymeGenomic DNA is synthesized in...

Feedback Loops

In most cases, excessive hormone production is prevented by negative feedback—a loop that starts with a stimulus inducing the release of a particular substance, like a hormone, to maintain a certain level before triggering a signal that results in a decrease in further release of the hormone.

Proofreading

Synthesis of new DNA molecules is carried out by the enzyme DNA polymerase, which adds nucleotides on the daughter strand complementary to the template DNA strand. DNA polymerase has a higher affinity to add the correct base and ensures fidelity during DNA replication. Furthermore,  it exhibits proofreading activity during replication, using an exonuclease domain that cuts off incorrect nucleotides from the nascent DNA strand.

Guidelines for Writing Outcome01:11

Guidelines for Writing Outcome

When developing expected outcomes for a patient care plan, the nurse should adhere to the following recommendations:
Patient outcomes reflect the patient's response to the goal rather than what the nurse aims to achieve. Terminology should be observable and measurable to avoid the reader's interpretation. The desired outcome should be realistic and achievable in the designated care timeframe. Expected outcomes should align with adjunctive therapies. The outcome should enhance care evaluation by...

Area of Science:

  • Nursing Education Research
  • Journal Peer Review

Background:

  • Limited literature exists on reviewer development programs.
  • No studies have explored the experiences of novice peer reviewers.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore the lived experience of novice peer reviewers in nursing journals.
  • To identify challenges and learning opportunities for new reviewers.

Main Methods:

  • Hermeneutic phenomenological approach.
  • Data collected through personal interviews and demographic questionnaires.
  • Thematic analysis of qualitative data.

Main Results:

  • Eleven novice reviewers participated.
  • Five key themes emerged: "sitting at the grown-up's table," "building and using the toolbox," "putting in the human factor," "assuming this is what you're looking for," and "appreciating the experience."

Conclusions:

  • This is the first study to describe the novice peer reviewer experience.
  • Findings can guide the development of support and training programs for peer reviewers.
