Background:

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) engagement in evidence-based practice (EBP), quality improvement (QI), and research is crucial for high-quality healthcare.
APPs often face significant barriers to participating in and leading scholarly activities.
Limited opportunities and support hinder APP involvement in EBP, QI, and research.

Purpose of the Study:

To establish an APP-led committee to support scholarly activities.
To overcome identified barriers hindering APP engagement in EBP, QI, and research.
To evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of an APP-led peer-review process for scholarly projects.

Main Methods:

Formation of an APP-led Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, and Research Review Committee.
Implementation of a peer-review process for APP-led scholarly project proposals.
Tracking of project proposal development, implementation, and dissemination.

Main Results:

67 project proposals were submitted to the committee.
40 (60%) of the proposed projects were successfully completed.
19 (28%) projects remain ongoing, and 8 (12%) were postponed or abandoned.

Conclusions:

An APP-led peer-review committee is a viable strategy to support APP scholarly endeavors.
This model effectively addresses barriers limiting APP participation in EBP, QI, and research.
APP-led initiatives can enhance engagement and leadership in critical healthcare improvement activities.
