Abstract:
Imaging plays an important role in clinical and surgical decision making in patients with cartilage derangements. Expert consensus statements and classification systems are in place to standardize the MRI reporting of articular cartilage derangements and highlight the important imaging findings to report. This article reviews MRI evaluation of articular cartilage through a discussion of major imaging classification systems and common cartilage disorders of the lower and upper extremity joints.
