Background:

  • Integrating Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) into health professions curricula presents challenges.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify opportunities for achieving Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) Core Competencies within existing health professions courses.
  • To analyze the representation of IPEC Core Competencies across different health professions.

Main Methods:

  • Quantitative, cross-sectional document review of curriculum maps and documents from 11 healthcare professions.
  • A structured survey administered via REDCap to 22 expert participants from each profession.

Main Results:

  • All analyzed health professions curricula incorporated the IPEC Core Competencies.
  • Values and Ethics competencies were most represented (mean=101.2), while Teams and Teamwork were least represented (mean=64.6).

Conclusions:

  • Curriculum map analysis offers valuable insights for identifying gaps and overlaps in IPECP.
  • Findings provide a foundation for developing integrated, longitudinal, evidence-based IPECP curricula.
