Thoracic and abdominal trauma are leading causes of mortality in pediatric patients making their diagnosis and management of utmost importance in children who present to the emergency department for traumatic injuries. Diagnostic errors can lead to increased morbidity and mortality in this already at-risk population. This article aims to identify these diagnostic errors and address ways to improve outcomes in pediatric patients presenting with thoracic and abdominal trauma.
