[Healthcare systems in the United States and Switzerland : a quiet transformation]

Among OECD nations, key stakeholders in health systems have increasingly invoked the necessity of healthcare transformation. The challenges are similar: aging populations, increasing complexity in care delivery, inequitable access to care, rising costs, pressure on the workforce, but the paths taken depend on each country's political, cultural, geographic, financial, and local characteristics. The Swiss system, which shares values similar to those in the United States, has undertaken numerous reforms aimed at improving care integration. The United States' experience with implementing such integration over several decades sheds light on the ongoing process in Switzerland. However, these similarities should not overshadow significant differences between the two countries, particularly regarding the role of the federal government.
