Assessment of Implant Success in Patients with Immunocompromised Conditions: An Original Research

Purpose:
This study aims to evaluate the success of dental implants in immunocompromised patients, assessing factors such as osseointegration, peri-implant tissue health, and overall survival rates.
Methods:
A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 60 immunocompromised patients who received dental implants between 2018 and 2022. Key metrics such as implant survival, marginal bone loss, and peri-implantitis prevalence were assessed over a 3-year follow-up.
Results:
The overall implant survival rate was 88.5%, with no statistically significant differences across subgroups of immunocompromised conditions. Marginal bone loss averaged 1.2 mm, with peri-implantitis occurring in 15% of cases.
Conclusions:
Despite underlying conditions, dental implants demonstrate a relatively high success rate in immunocompromised patients, contingent on rigorous preoperative planning and postoperative care.
Clinical Relevance:
This study underscores the viability of dental implants in patients with systemic health challenges, offering insights into tailored implant care protocols.
