None:
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is gaining popularity around the world and is now used to remove precancerous and early cancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Mucosal defects after resection of large GI tract lesions can cause delayed bleeding and delayed perforation. Although endoscopic clips are frequently used to close post-EMD and post-ESD mucosal defects, clips only approximate mucosal edges and cannot provide adequate and robust closure. To the contrary, endoscopic suturing can reliably close even large mucosal defects and could be a valuable tool in prevention of delayed adverse events after endoscopic resection of GI tract lesions.
