The association between single nucleotide eNOS gene polymorphisms and cardiovascular risk factors was studied in patients with impaired fasting glucose or impaired glucose tolerance. The allele and genotype frequencies of single nucleotide polymorphisms T786C (rs2070744) and C774T (rs1549758) of the NOS3 gene were analyzed and associations between major allele carriage and various phenotypic traits, traditional cardiovascular risk factors, and predictors were revealed. The study group included 66 patients (41 women, 25 men) aged 40 to 70 years living in the Tyumen region. Carriers of homozygotes for the T allele of the rs2070744 polymorphism significantly differed from other participants by higher PAI-1 levels, as well as the presence of associations with waist circumference, HbA1c level, and the presence of arterial hypertension and microalbuminuria. Carriers of homozygotes for the C allele of the C774T polymorphism (rs1549758) differed from the group of carriers of homozygotes for the T allele and from the group of carriers of heterozygotes by higher level of triglycerides, as well as by the presence of associations with PAI-1, waist circumference, and HbA1c level.
