Abstract:
The species Cordia alliodora (Ruiz and Pavón) Oken is found in the Neotropical region of great ecological and economic importance. Its wood is highly valued for its high quality, rapid growth, and adaptability to diverse ecosystems. In Mexico, it has a wide natural distribution, extending to Brazil and the Antilles. However, it also faces problems of deforestation, land-use change, and overexploitation. Ex situ conservation of this species is an alternative to ensure its survival, utilizing the resource without affecting ecosystems. There are several techniques for conserving plant genetic resources. One is in vitro minimal growth, which allows tissue to be preserved in the same tube and medium for up to a year without subculturing the material. Therefore, the objective of this work is to obtain a conservation protocol under minimal growth conditions, with the aim of conserving in a plant germplasm bank.
