Abstract:
Competency-based education (CBE) helps bridge the gap between academic preparation and real-world practice in healthcare education. Through a practice partnership, hospital content experts collaborated with faculty to develop CBE mastery strategies for leadership and management courses. Evaluation measures included student mastery (pass) rates and satisfaction surveys. The American College of Healthcare Executives self-assessment tool was administered pre/postintervention (n = 130). A statistically significant model, F(1,112) = 58.25, p <.001, η2 =.34, indicated improved confidence in leadership skills. Practice-partner content experts supported the integration of competencies into clinical practice; the CBE strategies contributed to increased mastery rates.
