Using management literature to enhance new leadership roles
The Journal of Nursing Administration
|April 1, 1980
Abstract:
Nursing administrators who understand and apply management science usually prove to be more effective leaders. They are also better at developing leaders. This article describes how administrators' knowledge of leader characteristics, position power, competency, leader-staff relations, and other factors, can help them choose and guide other nurse leaders. Nursing administrators will find the information particularly useful as they select and place clinical leaders such as supervisors, clinical directors, and clinical nurse specialists.
