Abstract:
The manual collection and storage of patient data in paper-based forms and files make it challenging for nurses to search for and manage clinical information in the Emergency Departments (EDs) of Greek hospitals. Simultaneously, the urgent and high-pressure nature of the EDs necessitates adopting advanced technological tools that enhance healthcare delivery and empower nursing staff to respond swiftly and effectively to critical conditions. This paper presents a web-based application to transform the nursing history-taking process in Greek EDs digitally. As part of the broader m-Health approach, the application is being developed for use on mobile devices, enabling users to access and manage patient records seamlessly and intuitively, leveraging the mobility and connectivity of these devices. A focus group evaluation of the application indicates that it can improve nurses' ability to accurately document patient histories, thereby improving the quality and effectiveness of emergency care.
