[Interventional cardiology : what's new in 2025]

In interventional cardiology, the year 2025 has been punctuated by the publication of the new valvular heart disease guidelines from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC)/European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery, as well as the presentation of key clinical trials at the ESC conference. These updates promote earlier intervention, even in selected asymptomatic patients, and strengthen the predominance of percutaneous approaches when the anatomy is suitable. Recent studies also support simplified antithrombotic regimens after acute and chronic coronary syndromes, favoring shorter dual therapy durations. Altogether, these developments reflect a shift towards earlier, less invasive, and more patient-tailored cardiovascular care, based on the patient's anatomy and involving shared decision-making, in which patient preference plays a central role.
