Abstract:
Aims - to identify features of availability of health staff, facilities and equipment in healthcare, to examine the current state and changes in the number of health facilities and medical staff in health care systems in the countries of the world and in Ukraine. The study uses current global health statistics by WHO and World Bank as well as data on healthcare resources by Center for Medical Statistics of Ukraine for the year 2017. It analyzes and compares availability and use of some healthcare resources in Ukraine and Top 10 countries in the WHO Ranking. The article studies the current state of availability of medical staff, facilities and equipment in health systems in the countries of the world and in Ukraine; analyzes changes in recent decades in the quantitative and qualitative indices of health, and in the number of health facilities and staff. Recent changes show the following trends: total number of hospital beds is reduced, but the scope and volume of medical care increases; there is an increase in the number of specialized facilities that admit mainly patients with serious diseases; the significance of emergency medical care is growing.
